  24. Illinois State Treasury Booth on I-Cash

    The Illinois Treasurer’s I-Cash program helps tens of thousands of people each year discover and claim old bank accounts, uncashed paychecks, unpaid insurance benefits, and other unclaimed property. Bonnie Jefferson will host a booth in the library’s main lobby to assist patrons in this field. She will be able to check the system for unclaimed property and, in the case that there is some, she can assist patrons with the paperwork required to claim the property. I-Cash is an official government program that is legally required to safeguard recovered property of Illinois residents for as long as it takes to return it to its rightful owners. Under the law, the Illinois Treasurer’s Office secures unclaimed property from banks, insurance companies, utilities, and other institutions across the country that have been unable to return it to their rightful owners. One-in-four Illinois adults discovers property to claim when they search at IllinoisTreasurer.gov/ICASH.
